River Runts  $12.5
QTY
"This is an engaging and unique memoir, told with a wry wit by two brothers now in their seventies. Unhurried, pleasurable in its easy power to carry the reader along, like the river, River Runts possesses a clarity and lightness that comes from heavy things dropping out. In its flow, the lessons of a youth growing up in the rural Northwest are seen again and recognized for their lifelong importance, much as the salmon and trout, the vehicles of much of the boys' learning, are themselves remembered fondly and prized. Fishermen, age-mates of the authors, and those age-mates' children and grandchildren are among those for whom River Runts will be a natural selection. The book deserves many readers." -- Joseph Cone, author of A Common Fate: Endangered Salmon and the People of the Pacific Northwest.

Ted and Bill Merrill, both now in their late seventies, were the only children of schoolteacher parents and grew up in Kimberly, Gooding, and finally Fairfield in southern Idaho. Ted is retired from medical practice and lives in John Day, Oregon. Bill has retired from teaching in public schools and university and lives near Ladysmith on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
