Work continues to move forward on the Cherryfield Fish Passage Project, with crews making exciting progress on both the nature-like fishway and the foundations for the new ice piers.
This week, Sargent continued placing material that will form the bottom of the new river channel and began excavating the first of six step pools that will help fish move upstream. A large crane is also on site to begin driving the piles needed to support the new ice pier foundations. That work is expected to continue into next week.
Sargent Corporation will be working this Saturday, August 22, to help keep the project on track for completion this fall.
Next week, crews will continue building the nature-like fishway and driving piles for the ice piers, while most of the remaining creosote-treated timbers from the former dam are expected to be hauled off site for safe disposal.
