DEAD STREAM
PRESERVE
Dead Stream Preserve
This DSF preserve is an easement on land owned by the New England Forestry Foundation in Reynolds Family Forest. DSF purchased the easement with a grant from the North American Wetland Conservation Act, a program of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The 1,160-acre property is NEFF’s first Downeast Maine Community Forest.
Under the easement, the property’s forested uplands will be sustainably managed for forestry, while a wide riparian buffer easement on the property’s freshwater resources provides special protection to habitat for cold-water fish like salmon and trout.
Easements like these secure enduring land management goals on privately held land. While much of this land is a working forest, NEFF welcomes the community. Please visit their website to learn more about the recreational opportunities this landowner allows on their property.
