Annual Free Ice Fishing Day


Bundle up and join Downeast Salmon Federation for our annual Free Ice Fishing Day at Six Mile Lake in Marshfield—a welcoming winter tradition for all ages and experience levels, and no fishing license required!
Whether you’re a seasoned angler or trying ice fishing for the very first time, this community event is a chance to get outside, enjoy the season, and connect with Maine’s waters in winter.
Kids 15 and under—don’t miss this! Enter our raffle for a chance to win a lifetime Maine hunting and fishing license. One winner will be selected in each age group: ages 0–5 and ages 6–15.
What to expect:
- Free ice fishing for kids and adults – no license needed
- Traps, bait, and pre-drilled holes provided with hands-on help from experienced volunteers
- Free food and drink
- A chance to learn more about Maine’s freshwater fish and winter ecology
All are welcome. Come fish, learn, or simply enjoy being outside with your community.
