Breaking Barriers: Restoring Maine’s Atlantic Salmon

Join DSF Executive Director Dwayne Shaw on Thursday, July 30, as he presents Breaking Barriers: Restoring Maine’s Wild Atlantic Salmon at the Friends of Blue Hill Bay Annual Meeting, hosted at the Kollegewidgwok Yacht Club in Blue Hill.
Drawing on more than three decades of river restoration and fisheries conservation, Dwayne will explore the challenges and opportunities facing Maine’s sea-run fish and endangered Atlantic salmon. The presentation will highlight the barriers preventing fish from moving freely between Maine’s rivers and the Gulf of Maine, as well as the innovative restoration efforts underway across Downeast Maine, including dam removals, nature-like fishways, habitat restoration, conservation hatcheries, and advocacy surrounding industrial-scale aquaculture.
The presentation will take place from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. We hope you’ll join us for an engaging afternoon of conservation, restoration, and conversation.
