Dedication Ceremony: Joe Robbins – Gaddis Pool Park in East Machias

You are invited to the dedication ceremony for the Joseph P. Robbins – Gaddis Pool Park on Sunday, November 16th at 1:00pm in East Machias.  Come join us in celebrating Joe’s life with the dedication of the Gaddis Pool Park in East Machias, a place that was very special for him.

Joseph was a cornerstone of the East Machias community, and he founded and operated Sunrise Realty for more than 40 years. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America throughout his life and was awarded the Silver Beaver in 1995, Scouting’s highest honor for adult volunteers. Joe was also a founding member of the Downeast Salmon Federation and served as a board member until earlier this year before passing away in August.

The Gaddis Pool Park is located on the East Machias River, just behind Bold Coast Coffee (447 Main St) in East Machias. This park is a popular place for local canoeists and fishermen, and it is also a wonderful place to take a break along this nice stretch of the river. Joe was responsible for this site being transformed into the beautiful park and boat launch that it is today, and he loved casting a line and boating from this spot.
