Campfire Policy
Maine State law requires fire permits for all open fires (including in campsite fire rings). Campfires may be banned during dry periods. Contact the Maine Forest Service for a permit at (800)750-9777 or (207) 827-1800, Monday through Friday, 8AM – 4PM. You can also contact the local fire department for campfire permits in organized towns. Plan and secure your fire permit ahead of your trip, as office hours are limited. You must have a permit to have a campfire on the properties, and you are required to have a printed copy of the permit or the ability to show it on a mobile device. Visitors without a valid fire permit are limited to cook stoves only.
