Cathance Lake Deep Cove Preserve
Description and Access
The 702-acre Deep Cove Preserve at the west side of Cathance (pronounced “Cath-ance”) Lake is open for hiking activities and may be accessed by boat. The preserve is located just off of Route 191 in Cooper, Maine, and there is also a convenient public boat ramp available to launch watercraft.
A conservation easement exists on this preserve, held by The Nature Conservancy, which limits activities to hiking and nature viewing. Wheeled vehicles (ATVs, bicycles, etc), horseback riding and camping are prohibited at this preserve.
Visitors hiking through this mostly-forested preserve will be rewarded by the amazing older trees they will find, and there is also much below the canopy.
