Curtis Creek Preserve
Description and Access
The 133-acre Curtis Creek Preserve is privately-owned property, and the family has conserved this land by way of granting DSF a conservation easement, preserving the land in a natural state. The family has agreed to public use of this property for hiking and related activities, and there is a DSF preserve sign and a “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” sign at the entrance off of US Route 1 in Harrington, Maine.

There is enough parking for a couple of vehicles, and this is a “Pack-It-In, Pack-It-Out” preserve with no amenities.

Exploring Curtis Creek
The trails are not maintained, but a hike through these woods and the wetlands around Curtis Creek are worthwhile for those prepared to do a little trailbreaking. There are a wide variety of tree species within the forest and is an excellent place to see unique bog vegetation such as carnivorous sundew plants.
Conservation Easement Note
This conserved land is private property, so please respect the landowners, who have generously opened it up for public recreational hiking activities. Permission should be obtained from the landowners for any other use or access for other purposes.
