Great Falls Primitive Campsite

This recently-established tent campsite is near the eastern side of the Narraguagus River at our Great Falls Preserve in Deblois, Maine.

The campsite features two picnic tables, a fire ring and an outhouse, and it provides convenient access to the “Skeleton Pool”, a locally-popular swimming site below the falls. The camp is also near the Kettle Hole, a unique glacial formation. We do not currently offer parking on this side of the river, so visitors are encouraged to park at our maintenance garage on the western side of the river. This is a “Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out” campsite.

Visitors can access the preserve and campsite by turning onto Lane Road, where the Deblois town office and firehouse are located, and driving 0.3 mile to the DSF preserve sign and access road on the left. Turn onto the access road and proceed 0.2 mile to the garage, kiosk and parking area, which has room for several vehicles. Following the trail downhill to the river, you will intersect with a well-maintained ATV trail which runs to your left along the river leading to Route 193 and the vehicle bridge crossing to the other side. On the other side, the ATV trail continues to an intersection with a foot trail that goes straight while the ATV trail turns left. Follow the foot trail along the river and you will reach the campsite, and the outhouse is a little further uphill on the trail on the right.
