Saco Falls Town Park and Preserve

Description and Access

The Saco Falls Town Park is owned by the Town of Columbia, Maine, and has been developed in partnership with the Downeast Salmon Federation which owns a conservation easement for the park.

This park is a community favorite on a hot summer day, and this 10-acre preserve offers a fun place to swim and picnic.  A bridge crosses the Pleasant River at the falls, and there is a fishway to help migrating fish pass through the falls.

There is parking for several cars, an information kiosk, picnic tables and a short trail leading to the Pleasant River and Saco Falls. Access from US Route 1 in Columbia is by turning north onto Station Road for 2.8 miles. Continue straight onto Saco Road for another 1.3 miles, and Saco Falls will be on the right with a large wooden park sign. There are no amenities or facilities at this location, and visitors should follow the “Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out” policy when visiting this preserve.
