Schoodic Brook Canoe Launch at Rt. 193
Description and Access
The Schoodic Brook Canoe Access is privately-owned property in Cherryfield, Maine, and the owners have sold a conservation easement to Downeast Salmon Federation which prevents it from being developed.
The 25-acre property provides public access to the Narraguagus River via a trail leading from the parking area, and is a great place to launch a kayak or canoe to explore the river.

This property can be accessed from Cherryfield, Maine by driving 5.25 miles north on Route 193 and turning left at the DSF preserve sign. Drive 780 feet to the parking area at the end of the access driveway where there is another DSF sign and a parking area with room for a few vehicles. This is also the beginning of a short (350 feet) trail leading to a riverbank canoe launch. There are no amenities or facilities available at this property, and visitors should practice the “Pack-it-in – Pack-it-out” policy when visiting this conservation easement.

Visitors should respect that this publicly accessible property is privately-owned. The public is welcome to use this undeveloped natural and scenic property for traditional low impact outdoor recreation, boat launching, nature observation and study. Other activities – including hunting require prior permission directly from the landowners. Please be advised that this area of river contains critical spawning habitat for endangered wild Atlantic salmon, so caution should be used to avoid disturbing salmon or the habitat here.
