Upper Mud Lake Preserve
Description and Access
The 162-acre Upper Mud Lake Preserve is located in Alexander, Maine. The Maine River flows through the property, and access is by boat coming from Pocomoonshine Lake to the north or from Lower Mud Lake or Crawford Lake to the south.
The area was extensively logged during the early 1990s, and is now managed as wildlife habitat. There are no facilities or amenities at this preserve, and like other DSF preserves, it operates on a “Pack-It-In, Pack-It-Out” use policy.
There are some old logging roads in various conditions, but there are no established or maintained hiking trails here.
