West Branch Preserve
Description and Access
The 125-acre West Branch Preserve is located on the eastern side of the West Branch of the Narraguagus River in Cherryfield, Maine.
The preserve has 1.4 miles of former roads which now serve as primitive hiking trail, and it has over a mile of river frontage.

Trail at West Branch Preserve
This preserve can be accessed from Deblois, Maine by turning onto Lane Road at the Deblois town office and fire station. Proceed on Lane Road for 1.2 miles and follow Lane Road as it turns left and becomes a dirt road leading into the blueberry barrens. Follow Lane Road south for about 7.3 miles through the barrens and continue as it leads you into the forest, past Sharon Lane, past Salmon Run Lane, and continue straight until the end of the road and the DSF preserve sign.
There is limited parking for a couple of vehicles here, but please be sure to not block the private gated driveway near the DSF preserve sign. There are no amenities or facilities at this location, and visitors should follow the “Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out” policy when visiting this preserve.
