This week, crews began excavation and earthwork to create a temporary bypass channel that will reroute river flow around the construction site and allow fish to continue moving through the area during construction. On the Cable Pool Park side, excavators have been shaping the embankment and repurposing excavated materials for use throughout the project.
Next week, work will continue on the bypass channel and in-water construction will begin. Crews will install a temporary cofferdam and redirect river flow into the new channel, allowing portions of the riverbed to dry for construction access.
A huge thank you to the staff at the Maine Department of Marine Resources, who will be on site to safely rescue and relocate any fish that may become stranded as sections of the river become temporarily isolated.

As construction progresses, the road to Cable Pool Park is now officially closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice.
We’re excited to see this important project moving forward and look forward to sharing more updates soon!
